Do's and Don’ts in regards to Fertility Nutrition
There are basically three accepted definitions for the term nutrition. The first explanation being; “ The process of nourishing or being nourished, especially the process by which a living organism assimilates food and uses it for growth and for replacement of tissues”. It can also be described as the science or study that deals with all aspects of food and nourishment, especially in humans. The last definition is short and to the point and states that nutrition is a source of nourishment, meaning food. It all comes down to the fact that nutrition is the fuel that keeps your body going. Although we know it’s not an option, we do however have the choice of what kind of foods we decide to consume. What you put into your body influences various aspects of your wellbeing including your health, balance and fertility. Your blood acts as a vessel that carries all nutrients to your organs, tissue and skin, therefore the richer the blood the healthier you are. Once toxicity or deficient nutritions comes into the equation all your vital organ will function less effectively, including your fertility. Foods that are beneficial in regards to fertility nutrition should be considered to be a high priority in your diet and should be incorporated long before you even contemplate conception.
Here is a list of foods beneficial for fertility nutrition as well as the ones that should be avoided at all costs;
- Foods to be included in your diet which are high in Choline, (reduces harmful gene effects and reduces birth defects); cauliflower, beef liver, whole eggs, navy beans, tofu and almonds.
- Foods to be avoided include ice cream, anything containing alcohol, fried foods, white flour, bacon and chocolate.
An effective diet that promotes good fertility nutrition will enable you to work towards balancing your hormones, supporting your endocrine system and steadying your blood sugar level. With a healthy body your chances of conceiving increases considerably and also permits you to have a healthy pregnancy and ultimately a hale and hearty baby.
