What to do before going for a Fertility Treatment Appointment
Every couple who has endured years of struggling to get pregnant will tell you that it’s an exhausting process. Most of these couples have tried all the various natural methods front to back but to no avail. A viritility treatment plan depends on the cause of your infertility which could be due to either the female or the male partners or in roughly 20% of struggling couples both partners. The good news about a fertility treatment is the fact that 85-90% of couple only require low-tech treatments like medication or minor surgery, less than 3% actually have to opt for assisted reproductive technologies like IVF. Two thirds of couples who use such minor infertility treatments go on to have healthy babies.
Many couple are unaware of how draining going through such treatments can be, physically and mentally. You have to prepare yourself beforehand emotionally as well as getting all your documentation in order before visiting your doctor. Here are a couple tips on how to get ready for you appointment;
- Get your medical history up to date. Medical information like if you suffer from asthma, hypertension, ulcers or a chronic bladder infection could potentially influence your fertility treatment.
- Provide your doctor with an up to date gynaecological history with information that includes your menstruation cycle, STD’s and the type of birth control method you’ve previously used.
- Supply your doctor with data concerning your struggles with conception, how long you’ve been trying; what you’ve tried or used to get pregnant and your living circumstances like your diet, exercise regime and other habits like smoking and drinking.
Once you’ve compiled all the needed documentation it’s best to sit and down and talk to your partner about some of the technical aspects. You have to set up a budget and decide how much you’re able to spend on a fertility treatment. Sometimes your insurance only covers a partial amount of the treatment and in other cases not at all, depending on your medical scheme. Your cause of infertility will leave you with a wide variety of fertility treatments to choose from. There are ones for men only, others for woman only and in some cases like with Pregassist you have the opportunity to use Pregassist Man and Pregassist Woman.
