More types of miscarriage

Friday, June 12th, 2009

We already looked at threatened and incomplete miscarriages. There are also other types of miscarriage including the complete miscarriage which is also a spontaneous abortion, but no tissue is left behind and the sonar taken can confirm that no part of the fetus is left. Another type of miscarriage is the missed miscarriage. This occurs when the baby dies in the womb and the parents for instance only finds out about it through a routine ultrasound. The doctor in this case may need to perform a dilation and curettage to ensure that the womb is completely clean afterwards. The blighted ovum miscarriage or pregnancy occurs when the egg is fertilised and implanting in the uterus took place, but the embryo did not grow.

Miscarriages

Friday, June 12th, 2009

People often think of miscarriages as a single term while there are various types of miscarriages. Threatened miscarriages for instance, occur when there is bleeding, vaginal pain, and the cervix closes. This is not to say that you will lose your baby, but you will need to get to the doctor immediately where corrective steps will be taken to prevent a complete miscarriage. Incomplete miscarriages occur when the body performs a spontaneous abortion. Unfortunately it is not reversible and in this instance the doctor will keep you comfortable. Bleeding, clotting, and abdominal pains occur. The cervix is open and the tissue is dispelled. It is important to note that some tissue may be left behind and you should seek medical help to ensure that the womb is clean and that no tissue is retained. The above are just two of the miscarriages that occur. By supplementing with PregAssist before conception you can reduce the chances of miscarriage as the formula contains a unique combination of herbs, minerals, and vitamins, to help reduce the occurrence of miscarriages.

Will caffeine affect pregnancy?

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Studies done have shown that moderate intake of caffeine found in chocolates, coffee, and tea will not harm the unborn baby or the pregnancy. It is however, important to limit the intake of caffeine. If you are still trying to conceive, it will be best to cut out caffeine as far as possible. Every type of substance that can cause toxin build-up should be avoided. Sodas are even worse as they contain a lot of sugar in addition to caffeine. During pregnancy you will need to stay hydrated. Caffeine has the effect of leading to urination more often. Bodily fluids are thus lost on a regular basis. Rather replenish with milk, water, and healthy juices to prevent heartburn and other side effects of caffeine intake. Large amounts of caffeine intake during pregnancy can cause lower birth weight as well as increase the risk of miscarriage.

Male fertility declines at an earlier age than anticipated

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Many men are unaware when male fertility actually declines. What age does a man have to reach before it’s almost too late to produce sperm adequately? Researchers now say that male fertility declines in the mid-thirties. Men waiting until they are over the age of 40 have a greater risk of causing a miscarriage for their partner because of low sperm quality. One reason for male fertility being such a concern is because many males wish to wait as long as possible to become a father and start a family. The age for starting a family seems to significantly rise each year. Men that are looking to start a family should not wait until they have reached 40, rather they should start while they still have good sperm quality increasing the chances of successful conception without medical interference.

Female fertility – Age matters

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Just as with male fertility, female fertility declines as women reach a certain age. Researchers have confirmed that female fertility is reduced during the middle thirties. Now, studies also show that regardless of the age of their partner, even if the man is younger, if the woman is over the age of 34 there will be a higher risk of miscarriage. Miscarriage rates are known to be near 40% between the ages of mid-twenties to mid-forties. It has also been shown that the chance of the newborn baby being born with Downs syndrome is significantly higher for females nearer to their forties. For example, women who wait until their mid-thirties risk the chance of their newborn baby being 1 in 400 that are born with the disease. Although the ratio may not seem that high, it is simply not worth the risk of Down syndrome. The biological clock is ticking, but if you have waited until after 34, all is not lost. With excellent medical care and adequate nutrition as well as the correct supplements your chances of successful pregnancy increase.

Is there a link between sperm defects and miscarriage?

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Recent studies have shown that there are in many cases a link between sperm defects and miscarriage. Studies indicate that recurring miscarriages can be linked to sperm defects as these miscarriages take place because of genetic abnormalities in the embryo. Not all miscarriages result because of sperm defects or other genetic defects although the studies are seen as a breakthrough in medical science. By supplementing with PregAssist which contains Vitamins C and E as well as selenium to help improve sperm quality and L-Arginine to improve sperm motility, men reduce the risk of miscarriage because of sperm defects. The supplement also contains Beta Carotene to help with cell maturation and prevent ageing. As such it is possible to reduce sperm defects and their influence on pregnancy.
